    The problem is this: I need to run autoconf because of the change
    to configure.in, but 213 passes AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE() & friends through
    silentrly, while 253 dies because they're undefined.
    
    Automake (*that* should expand those macros, right?) isn't happy
    either because debugclient/Makefile.am doesn't exist. But it should,
    at least judging from ChangeLog. Hm, what should I do here?
