Looks like you may have a couple of things happening here.

Your build of php is pointing to the wrong library files (did you build from
source or using standard leopard install?). Also, you may have to run sudo
phpize or change the permissions on your xdebug directory.

Hi, Xdebugger. I'm trying to install Xdebug on my Mac OS X Leopard v10.5.6,
but I can't get past phpize ... this is what I get:
