an attempt to build the debugclient,

        % cd /usr/ports/xdebug-cvs/debugclient
        % ./buildconf
        % ./configure \
          --prefix=/usr/local/xdebugclient \
          --without-libedit

fails in ./configure at:

        ...
        checking whether to use libedit... no
        configure: creating ./config.status
        config.status: creating Makefile
        config.status: error: cannot find input file: Makefile.in

i do note that there is a Makefile.am in the cvs src ...
